There are a number of competitive exams for chemical engineering in India. One can choose according to one's interest. GATE Just after B.Tech one can appear in this exam for higher studies or PSU jobs. IFoS (Indian forest service) – Actually, it is non-technical exam, but in Mains exam one can choose chemical engineering subject as an optional paper. (Cut off for IFoS is quite high as compared to IAS in prelims, as they have common prelims). IES yes, it's engineering services. You can appear for the CAT provided you clear the backlogs before taking admission in the college you get admission in. If the backlogs aren't cleared on time, the admission would stand cancelled.
