Candidates need to pass their 10+2 education from recognised educational boards to be considered for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam. You need to pass in all subjects, including Physics, to be eligible for the NIFT exam. NIFT does not enforce any particular minimum percentage requirement, making your overall 61% valid after successfully completing all your tests.

You can be one without graduating but formal education is a great way to discipline the mind. But if you really want to go ahead with no graduation, there are tons of ways to do it:
- Learn from wherever and whoever you can. As much as you can.
- Get yourself talking to tailors, they are highly undervalued people with exceptional skills that will teach you a lot about garment construction.
