Hello, the BA in Fashion Design course is offered by around 60 institutes, including government and private ones. Hence, the course fee structure of these colleges varies depending on their college rating, faculty rating, placement records, etc. However, the average fee ranges from INR 42,000 to INR 52.2 Lakh.

Of course, it's a valid way in the journey of becoming a Fashion Designer. Though with a BA in Fashion Design degree, you will need to have a portfolio, relevant work experience, the right skills, and expertise to achieve your goals of becoming a successful Designer. Merely completing a bachelor's degree can land you an entry-level job, but with constant learning and practical experience will help you become better in the field.

Candidates need to pass their 10+2 education from recognised educational boards to be considered for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance exam. You need to pass in all subjects, including Physics, to be eligible for the NIFT exam. NIFT does not enforce any particular minimum percentage requirement, making your overall 61% valid after successfully completing all your tests.

Hi,

You can be one but formal education is a great way to discipline the mind. But if you really want to go ahead, there are tons of ways to do it:

  • Learn from wherever and whoever you can. As much as you can.
  • Get yourself talking to tailors, they are highly undervalued people with exceptional skills that will teach you a lot about garment construction.
  • Try reading about history of fashion. Never forget that fashion is a cycle.
  • Follow fashion blogs, maybe even start one.
  • Know your fabrics inside out!

An entry-level Fashion Designer in India can earn upto Rs. 3-5 LPA. However, the salaries may increase with experience and skill. After gaining experience, candidates can earn between Rs. 10-20 LPA or more.
