Distance learning course isn't enough to practice law in India. As per the Bar Council of Indias guidelines, one need to have a law degree to practice law in India. One of the prerequisite to practice in any state is to have a regular course law degree. Law course pursued through a distance learning is only for knowledge sake. A Bachelors (10+2+3) degree (Major/Honours) or equivalent from a recognised University, in any discipline, with a minimum of 50% marks or 5.5 CPI in a 10-point scale (45% marks or 5.0 CPI in a 10-point scale for SC/ST/PD candidates) in major/honours only
