First things first, separate your college work from GATE preparation. Try completing your college work during your class hours, so that you can utilise it for GATE preparation at home. Attend your class lectures honestly (to score a good CGPA equally important, especially for GATE PSUs) and grasp the concepts right at that time, so that you can implement them while solving GATE questions. The GATE previous years question paper are available on the official website - gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates who are appearing for GATE exam must attempt the question paper to understand what sort of questions are asked in the exam. Candidates can download them for free. However, they must check the paper code carefully before downloading PDF.

The marking distribution of the GATE Data Science question paper is as follows -

  • General aptitude - 15 marks
  • Subject-based questions - 85 marks
  • Total marks allotted - 100 marks

The GATE DA question paper marking scheme is as follows -

  • Questions are either of 1 or 2 marks
  • For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for an incorrect response.
  • For 2- mark MCQ, 2/3rd mark will be deducted for an incorrect response. 
  • There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs.
