Yes, GATE has already introduced new GATE papers like Data Science, Humanities, and Environmental Science in the recent years. This reflects growing importance in the interdisciplinary knowledge. In core branches too, topics like basic programming, statistics, and machine learning may appear, especially in MSQs and NATs. Yes, GATE has increasingly inclined towards MSQs (Multiple select questions) and NAT (Numerical Aptitude Questions), as it evaluates candidate's conceptual clarity than the rote memorisation. Based on the previous year's GATE question papers and GATE analysis- we can expect alteast 30 to 40% of the questions to be MSQs and NATs, and here's why -

  • These type of questions are more challenging and demand precise understanding.
  • Requires conceptual clarity with accuracy in attempting these questions.

This year, GATE 2026 is organised by IIT Guwahati. The GATE exam dates 2026 are February 7, 8, 14, and 15.
