It is good that you have set a goal and have started to think of how to achieve it from now. If you are going to do class 11 and 12 from CBSE then I think you should take up humanities (if you are very much sure that you will not change your mind later on) as you will have an opportunity developed as base in social science. Then you can do BA and take coaching for UPSC simultaneously so that you might not have to take a drop.
Also, try to make notes of editorial column of the newspaper daily and try to think of the topic in different view i.e. how can it effect socially, economically, etc.

You should pursue your graduation with maths. It will help you a lot as you won't be worrying about any maths problem, which are quite difficult for any arts student. Geography, economics and history are the most required subjects so prepare them well.

Types of questions which are asked is depends upon the sector you are choosing. Some general syllabus section for any government or defense entrance exam such as NDA asked are-
English: Basic knowledge of English. I would say upto class 10th.
Mathematics: Yes, it is important that you prepare for mathematics using NCERT class 11th and class 12th class books. Use all that you can and prepare well for the mathematics section. GK: Just some basic knowledge of the current affairs along with some preparation from Lucent is all that you need.
