With few exceptions, hospital management, in its present form is not a great career. Hospitals are very poor paymaster as compared to other industries. For a fresher with Master's degree in hospital management, the starting CTC would be around 4 LPA, which is not even 50% of the average CTC offered to regular MBA students of any good institute. Growth is also slow and limited. Even if one becomes chief of hospital, the pay difference from chief of organization from any other sector will be very high. Instead of hospital management, healthcare management has a much brighter career. It do not limits one to hospitals, as it keeps door open for public health, healthcare IT, health insurance, medical devices, pharmaceuticals etc.

There is a good scope in hospital management for BHMS graduates. With the increase of hospitals, the demand for the hospital managers & administrators is also increasing. If you make a career in administration or management side you can find better job opportunities. There are many courses available for skill enhancement of BHMS graduates. You can work in hospital operations, hospital quality, hospital business operations, hospital planning and hospital marketing. These days even government hospitals under NHM hire hospital administrator. Apart from that door to many opportunities (hospitals, consultancies, MNCs, advisories) in different healthcare sector opens with this course. I would suggest you to do it from IHMR or TISS.
