Hi Sparsh,
Most students earning their Ph.D. in History go on to become professors at the university level. Professors are required to both teach and conduct research on behalf of the university and then present that research at conferences with other professors. Some history PhD graduates become historians, compiling and interpreting historical information contained in various archives and artifacts.
Hope this information helps. Please feel free to revert.
Wish you luck.

Hi Priyanka, you can either pursue MA in History or opt to take the SSC, UPSC or state wide PSC tests for various government jobs. You may also take bank tests if you are interested in jobs as PO and clerical jobs in banks. If you are interested in teaching , B.Ed and then a M.Ed or MA would be a good option. Since learning is a lifelong process you can think of obtaining PG Diplomas in specialized areas of History such as Archives Keeping, Archaeology, Museum Administration and Museum Modeling etc. What your next step would be depends on your own career interest. All the best.

All three options have limited job scope. You must gain some professional skills to enhance your employability.
