IHMs are the leading places that everyone craves for and prepares well. It is not impossible but the focus on the basic things that they ask is must for anyone.
NCHMCT-JEE is the criteria that they ask for. You score shall matter a lot in addition to the 77.4 that you are mentioning.
http://nchm.nic.in/ has the details to make you apply. I fear that the last date was in March.
17th March to 3rd April I guess. Please check the NCHM website.

You can pursue a chef course once you complete B.Com. You can pursue formal training through culinary programs offered by community colleges, universities, and culinary institutes.

Tarun,
If you want to do be a chef and you are clear about your aim then go for culinary colleges. If you have a slight doubt regarding the same, I will suggest you to opt IHM and pursue the cooking/bakery courses with it.

Yes, you can pursue if taken English as a subject at 12th level. Further NIOS courses have full validity at par with other educational boards like CBSE and ICSE, etc.
