The minimum percentage differs in case of government institutions and private institutions, for government IHMs you can go as low as 50% but private institutions providing better quality education and having edge on updated curriculum you might be needing as low as 60% for applying for STEP- Oberoi/ Vedatya Institute/ IHM-Aurangabad.

The best thing to apply is after finishing class 12th is applying for STEP programme by Oberoi Group of Hotels or apply for IHM-Aurangabad, if you want to go south or Vedatya Institute- Gurgaon. If you want to apply somewhere north all these are private institutions providing top notch quality education, but in case of budget constraints you may apply for NCHMCT i.e., government IHMs.

The strength of girls are quite low in hotel management colleges. The ratio can be, if in a class there are 60 students, then the ratio would be 5:1, if there are 50 boys, then there will be 10 girls.
