Colleges that offer "free admission" to a Diploma in Hotel Management after 10 th are extremely scarce. Nevertheless, the Government Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) which are directed in the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) provide Diploma courses that have much lesser fees than that of a private institution. Moreover, the students may also refer to an array of government-sponsored scholarship programs, including PM-YASASVI Post-Matric Scholarship, which may subsidize some of the fees, essentially making the learning process extremely cheap to very free, in case the student meets the criteria

The Army Institute of Hotel Management and Catering (AIHMCT), Bangalore, admission is mainly made of children of the Army officers. In the case of BHM program, one should have at least 50 percent in 10+2 with English. The process of selection has changed and instead of an entrance exam, the process will comprise of a merit list derived through 40 percent of the 10th grade marks and 60 percent of 12th grade marks and then the online interview. Applicants are usually accepted around the month of November.

Koshys Institute of Hotel Management (a group of Koshys Group of Institutions), is well known because of the infrastructure, faculty and training partners. Although technically not under the North, International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) Bangalore (retreating in Indiranagar via North Bangalore) is also one of the most esteemed colleges with great industry exposure, a training hotel, and has an excellent track record with top-tier hotel companies. The two offer well-equipped facilities and a focus on practical training that is important to the industry.

The NIPS School of Hotel Management is largely an institution which accepts admitted students on the basis of merit and therefore, the grade you obtain at your Class 12th in exams is the primary determinant of your admission to undergraduate studies of the school such as B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration or Culinary Science. In case of most programs a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in your qualifying examinations (Class 12 th from a recognised board) is normally required and English is made mandatory. Hotel Management courses teach candidates how to run and manage hotels, restaurants, resorts, and other hospitality services.
