Being studied from LPU I would like to say that LPU has very simple admission process when it comes to Ph.D. For admission to Ph.D. the criteria is 55% aggregates marks in your Masters and you have to qualify interview along with LPU NEST. Also LPU is the only university in India which gives multiple coursework options for Ph.D. (Part time) students.
1. 15 days course work (Dec)
2. 4 Days classes every month ( generally Thu-Sun)
3. Weekend classes (Sat-Sun)
LPU has the most advanced labs dedicated to research work. Many labs are maintained by Cisco, Cadence. LPU also has Central Instrumentation Facility which is one of its kind. It has high end instruments and these instruments and facilities help the faculty members, research scholars and students to carry out globally competitive research in basic, applied and medical sciences. The Lab has many instruments like Powder X-ray diffractometer, Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Density Meter, Viscometer, Probe Sonicator, Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometer and much more. Since its inception in 2009, more than 50,000 students are appearing in this exam (LPUNEST) every year. The test will be conducted through online mode throughout the country for all disciplines as per the schedule mentioned under the head "Important Dates". LPU follows the eligibility norms very stringently, so the research scholar has to fulfill the criteria. LPU offers flexible coursework options-

2) 4 days course work every month (Preferably every second week: Thu-Sun)
3)15 days course work (November/December)
The eligibility is:
Masters degree with 55% aggregate marks in a relevant discipline or equivalent, subject to clearing LPUNEST and Interview. If you are UGC/NET qualified then you are exempted from LPUNEST but to avail the maximum scholarship it is advisable to appear in LPUNEST.
