During Phase-I of this placement session, IIT Kanpur received 1,202 offers from a wide range of recruiters. Students accepted 1,079 offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs). This shows a very strong placement record this year.

For admission to the IIT Kanpur BTech programme, qualifying JEE Main is mandatory to become eligible for JEE Advanced. Only candidates who clear JEE Advanced can be considered for BTech admission at IIT Kanpur through JoSAA counselling.

Yes, a cutoff rank of 1000 in JEE Advanced is considered a safe rank for getting admission at IIT Kanpur for OBC category students. However, you can't get any BTech specialisation with this rank, as the cutoffs are on the competitive side for popular branches. Some of the available specialisations are given below:

To get the core BTech branches, such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc, the SC category students must target a cutoff rank of up to 6585 for admission in Round 1. The cutoff ranks might vary in other rounds and for other categories. Candidates can refer to the table below to view the BTech core branches cutoff ranks 2026 for Round 1.
