For 2022, cut off was 13741 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Civil Engineering in IIT Patna - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in General category under All India quota, 21802 was the closing rank. B.Tech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

According to the IIT Patna cutoff 2023, the closing ranks for all BTech specialisations ranged from 2811 to 16253. The most competitive specialisation has been Computer Science and Engineering with a closing rank of 2811, followed by Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with 3577 rank. IIT Patna gives MCM scholarships to meritorious and needy students. A UG student or a 2-year MSc programme student can receive the MCM scholarship. For new entrants (BTech/MSc 1st year), their SPI will be the criterion for their merit. The minimum SPI is 6.50 and there is no "F" grade in any of the courses in the first semester. For students in their 2nd year (BTech/MSc) onwards, the minimum CPI is 6.50 and there is no "F" grade. For all category students, the annual income of a student's parents or guardians and his family from all sources in the preceding financial year must not exceed INR 4.50 lakh.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna admission is completely an online process. Admission to all undergraduate (UG) courses will be made in the odd semester of each session, at the first-year level, through a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted jointly by all the IITs. For admission to the BTech course, the institute accepts JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSAA counseling. Candidates must also fulfil the eligibility criteria to be able to apply for the BTech course.

IIT Patna offers BTech, MTech, MSc, and PhD programmes through its 10 departments. IIT Patna offers four-year BTech programmes at the undergraduate level in 11 specialisations. A two-year MTech programme in 15 specialisations and two-year MSc programmes in three specialisations at the postgraduate level. All 10 departments of IIT Patna also offer a three-year PhD programme. The mode of IIT Patna admission is online. Admission to BTech is based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores, followed by JoSSA counseling. Admission to MTech and MSc is subject to GATE and IIT JAM, respectively.

According to the placement 2022 data, there was a rise of 68.47% in the average package offered during BTech placements 2022 as compared with 2021.
