Obtaining a degree at the technological epicenter, I. eCambridge, where MIT is located, may provide you with a plethora of ever-expanding and life-changing professional and networking prospects on an international scale. You can only get national-level exposure if you study at an IIT campus. Most of the IIT campuses are also mostly secluded from the cities and don't offer much scope for a life outside of college.

The closing rank for general candidates is around 60. On a side note, I know of a girl who was of SC category who got into IIT Bombay CSE branch with a rank in the range 1000-1100. that is harsh reality of today education system.
