No, scoring 75% or above in 12th alone is not enough to get admission into B.Tech CSE at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. For IIT admission, clearing JEE Advanced is compulsory, and students first need to qualify JEE Main to become eligible for it. Since Computer Science at IIT Bombay is one of the most competitive branches in India, students usually need a very high rank in JEE Advanced to get a seat. If you could not clear JEE, then you can explore other good universities for B.Tech CSE where you can still build strong coding and technical skills and get good placement opportunities through hard work and projects.

Yes, you can pursue B.Tech after completing a diploma in Computer Science, but getting admission into Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is quite difficult because IITs mainly take admission through the JEE Advanced exam. Diploma students usually need to first complete the required eligibility criteria and qualify in JEE Main and JEE Advanced with a very high rank. Hi,

The cutoff for B.Tech CSE at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is very competitive. In JoSAA 2025 counselling, the General category closing rank was around AIR 66, while OBC-NCL closed around rank 54. Cutoffs may change depending on category, seat availability and counselling rounds. IIT Bombay CSE is among the top engineering programs in India because of its placements, research opportunities and strong coding environment.

No, direct second-year admission through Diploma Stream Entry (DSY) is not available at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering. IITs generally do not offer lateral entry into the second year after a diploma. To study B.Tech at IIT Bombay, diploma holders must appear for JEE Advanced after qualifying JEE Main and meet the required eligibility criteria. Admission is granted only to the first year through JoSAA counselling. Diploma students can also explore other reputed universities that provide lateral entry opportunities into engineering programs.

IIT Bombay application process is conducted in online mode. The institute accepts applications for all courses through the official portal only. IIT Bombay admissions are currently ongoing for several courses.

If any candidate is unable to receive the OTP while filling the IIT Bombay application, they should try resending or reloading the sent OTP. Wait for atleast 15-20 minutes or change the current netword settings. If this does not fix the problem of OTP not getting loaded, try using a different Email Id or phone no.

IIT Bombay GATE cutoff 2026 was released till round 1 for admission to the M.Tech course for various All India categories.

For the General AI category, the round 1 cutoff ranged from 325 to 650. Hence,  a score of at least 325 is required to be eligible for admission in the first round. Students can refer to the list of pointers below to see the cutoff range of other categories. 

  • OBC: 585 - 293
  • SC: 433 - 217
  • ST: 433 - 217
  • EWS: 650 - 325
