Lovely Professional University is one of the finest university that I know of. Be it academics, placements or extra-curricular activities. And I am saying this because one of my friend has done B.Tech from LPU only and right now she is working with Amazon. Few points which will help you to take decision:-
It is the best private university which always focuses on learning outcomes by letting explore our capabilities. The curriculum blends in with the technology. It provides for multiple industrial exposures, live projects, an updated curriculum rigor and technology along with very good placements and personality development. Frequent guest lectures/ workshops are also organized for them by the university. , Ministry of Science Technology Advisory Monitoring Committee Meeting was held where 42 Scientists from various top universities like IITs, NITs, top Central and State Universities including (LPU) from across the country presented their research proposals. The faculty members are very knowledgeable in their respective fields. They are always ready to help the students. During the exams, professors arrange special classes for the students to help them revise better and clear their doubts. Record placements with over 610 hired on a single day by cognizant. Tech mahindra hired 250 students in one go, which is the highest for any campus drive conducted by tech mahindra. International Companies like Hyatt (USA), Ritz Carlton (USA), Adani Wilmar (Africa), Altruist (Africa), Al-Rakha (Dubai), Dharam Consultancy (USA) selected LPU students for International locations. IELTS barrier has been recently lifted bringing the average for admissions around 6.5 band. GRE and IELTS are both requirements for any form of study you wish to pursue along with the additional work experience that is often required. In most cases, you'll be able to find colleges which will allow a 6 band but there are better opportunities out there for you. If you believe you're falling short, my best suggestion to you would be to give another IELTS and enroll yourself in a form of study which would then allow you to scale up to a PR and a job opportunity in Canada. One of the interesting one's that I recently encountered is this Study & Work programme where you basically get to do a course while earning part-time and once you finish the course, you can work full time for about 6 months.
