To be honest, college life here is quite struggling, but it's not bad thing. We experience struggling as a student and making adjustment in life. We don't have permanent campus yet, but have small temperory campus which gives lot of basic things for students but it doesn't have college vibe, no trees, no garden to sit and study, no bench outside (have open air theater but not shade to cover the sunlight, we stay in the classrooms). Something like this could have made the us to get the feeling of going to college. Even though campus is not as college like, but still doesn't have any surroundings like foods stalls, hotels, xerox, stationary near college. Because it's in the center of the 200 meter of ground, need to go around 500 meter to get stuff like stationary or even food apart from college canteen. Our professors are quite friendly and they made us to feel better in such condition of college. And another honesty, I am quite disappointed to be here as I have study 15+ hours a day straight for 6-7 months just to get in best college in India like IIT, NIT. Due to overcofidence, I lost few rank by messing up calculation in JEE, but still having great rank coming with top 5%, I can't even imagine the best life where as my friends who have gotten bad rank, still got low level college enjoying their peacefull life in their college. But we know, the end result of us is going to be life changing. And hence I have accepted the fact that our life is journey, it ends in better way, especially when you are in premier college like IIIT Surat and we get quite lot reputation from our friends and family which make us feel proud. Life in IIIT Surat is: Hustling the key to opening a door to success!

First things first, SVNIT is the best located NIT amongst the other NITs. It is located in the most premium part of Surat. Surat as a city is awesome. Really missing Surat, anyways the first year experience will be…how to put it…new. Do not think about how to get a job. Get a good grip of your engineering branch, that will do wonders for you.

SVNIT has good sporting facilities. If you are passionate about tennis or badminton, you are in for a treat. World class badminton and tennis courts await you but their maintenance is altogether another issue by itself.

The new found freedom can be hard to handle, so indulge yourself in myriad activities. Meetyourseniors and maintain dignified relations with them. Enjoy the peacocks frolicking in the campus.

You can feel homesick like many others do. Talk to your friends. Form an amazing friend circle. You will surely stick to them till and beyond your stay at SVNIT. If you turn out to be as lucky as I was yo u can befriend some amazing Afghans. I was lucky to have made good friends.

And do not take to smoking or drinking. It is only logical as it destroys your innards. Handle peer pressure with an iron fist. A No means a No. It is not cool to harm your internal organs.

It is going to be an amazing ride. Be proud of SVNIT. I had some friends who were always crying and lamenting about the negatives. Don't be one of them. You worked hard and got SVNIT. Cherish all the moments.

That was an interesting question, as the condition of the hostel provided by IIIT Surat at SUV International School on lease is disappointing. Most of our students are on their way to hunt PGs. Finding PGs and Rented flats are difficult task in Surat especially for Bachelors, because most landlords in Surat provide room to families. They might even ask 3 times the rent to allow us for living in their flat. Otherwise, we are currently residing in Radhe Krishna Apartment located in Kamrej, a 10-15 min drive to IIIT Surat. There are few PGs but almost all are occupied, like Dada Bhagwan Complex. If you want to stay in PG, you have to find one in the middle of the city like Varracha, VIP Circle, Sarthana etc. where I lived previously, it's a 35 - 45 min drive if commute using the city bus.
