IPMAT Rohtak Preparation

IIM Rohtak conducts the IPM Aptitude Test only once a year. This year, the exam will be conducted in the computer-based test mode. Here are important topics for the exam according to the sections of IPM AT question paper.

1. Verbal Ability: Just like other management entrance tests, this section is divided into Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability/English Usage. There are about four to five comprehension passages while the topics of English usage are as follows: 

• Synonyms (word pair)
• Fill in the blanks
• Para Formation Questions
• Idioms
• Error identification
• Word Meaning
• Antonyms
• Sentence Completion
• Para Jumbles
• Grammar

2. Quantitative Ability: This section of the IPM AT question paper is considered tough. However, the overall difficulty level can be considered to be moderate. Some of the important topics of this section include:

• Percentage
• Profit and Loss
• Simple Interest and Compound Interest
• Average, Mixture and Alligation
• Time and Distance 
• Time and Speed 
• Geometry
• Mensuration
• Time and Work
• Permutation & Combination
• Probability 

3. Logical Reasoning: The LR section is usually moderately difficult. Some of the important topics under this section are:

• Visual Puzzles
• Cubes and Dices
• Venn Diagrams
• Sentence Correction
• Strong and Weak Arguments
• Statements and Conclusions
• True or False
• Syllogisms
• Grid Puzzles, etc.

2. Quantitative Aptitude:

   • Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examinations by RS Aggarwal
   • Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Examination by Abhijit Guha
   • Fast Track Objective Arithmetic by Rajesh Verma
   • NCERT Mathematics textbooks of Class 9 and 10

3. Analytical & Logical Reasoning:

   • A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal
   • Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation for CAT by Nishit K. Sinha
   • Analytical and Logical Reasoning for CAT & Other Management Exams by Peeyush Bharadwaj

IPMAT and IPM Aptitude Test (IIM Rohtak) have similar syllabus but the difficulty level is different. Both exams have Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability sections. However, IIM Rohtak's IPMAT exam has an additional section- Logical Reasoning. While IPM Aptitude Test is an easy exam, IIM Indore's IPMAT is moderately tough but to say which is better totally depends upon the college a candidate is targeting for the five-year integrated programme. The participating colleges for both exams are different. If a candidate's dream college accepts IPMAT score, then they should appear for IPMAT exam. The IPMAT exam conducted by IIM Indore is accepted by other institutes such as IIFT, IIM Ranchi, Nirma University,  Alliance University,  NICMAR University,  Department of Management Studies and NALSAR University of Law. The benefit of IPMAT by IIM Indore is that the exam is accepted by multiple top management insitutes in country, whereas the one conducted by IIM Rohtak is only accepted by IIM Rohtak.
