You should have scored nearly 200 and above. So you can get good IITs and NITs. If you are an OBC candidate then your rank will be depended on that year's JEE Mains exam and cut off.

You will need to tell me your state of eligibility, your category of reservation and preferred branch if any, then I will be able to tell you the cut off score. Get back to me with these details and I will reply back to you. By the way for general category, and outside Delhi almost all the branches get exhausted by 5000 rank to give you a perspective. Hi Deep,
To get admission in SVNIT - Surat, the marks obtained in class 12th will not be considered this year. The score in JEE Mains will be counted. Your AIR will now be based on these marks. Hence, my advice is not to worry and concentrate on preparation for the exam.
Best of luck.

If you are able to score 120 or more in JEE Mains and above 75% in boards, then there is nothing to worry. You will get admission in a good government college. If you score more than 250, you may get admission in NIT.

Since there is no previous data to look upon regarding JEE Mains rank without considering board marks, I cannot exactly tell you the marks that you will need to get into VNIT Nagpur. I can give you the cut-offs, which are all either below 1000 or below 1500 in case of CSE branch and OBC Other State quota. But even so it is safe to assume that you will have to easily score above 250 in JEE Mains to have an AIR of 1000.

Scoring above the border line does not guarantee your admission in a government college. It only provides you an opportunity to take part in the central counselling process. So, you can try to score far away from the border line.
