IIT Delhi library system comprises a central library and departmental libraries. The library houses a collection of 1.94 Lacs books, 1.03 bound volumes of journals, over 26,000 standards and 2,200+ microfilms among others. It also has video cassettes, CDs, and online electronic journals. IIT Delhi offers various facilities to students like a cafeteria near the academic buildings and a South Indian food court (Southy) in the boys' hostel area. Some hostels, including Kumaon, Zanskar, Aravali, Girnar, and the Karakoram have a tea halt. The IIT Delhi has a total number of 14 hostels, comprising 11 for boys and three for girls. The boys’ hostels are Nilgiri, Karakoram, Aravali, Jwalamukhi, Satpura, Zanskar, Kumaon, Vindyachal, Shivalik, Girnar, and Udaigir, while Kailash and Himadri Hostels are for girls. IIT Delhi is known for its sports and hence it offers several practising courts to the students, including badminton, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, cricket, etc.
IIT Delhi Faculty
IIT Delhi has a wide array of faculty comprising over 650 teaching staff with an excellent faculty-to-student ratio of 1:8. Out of the highly-qualified and competent teaching faculty, around 99.82% of the professors are PhD degree holders from some of the top institutions across the world in relevant fields. Some of the faculty members have achieved national awards. Rukmini Bhaya Nair, renowned poet and linguist, is the HOD of the Humanities Department and an experienced faculty from Stanford University.
