My college campus attracts high-level companies.
Placements: Every student at IIT Delhi or in my branch secured placements boasting a 100 percent Placement rate. The salary packages are impressive, with the highest reaching INR 10-25 Lakhs and the average falling between INR 25 to 30 Lakhs. The prevalent role offered is GET.
Infrastructure: The university infrastructure is outstanding, providing excellent Wi-Fi connectivity in labs, classrooms, and the library. The canteen and mess maintain hygienic standards, offering quality food and medical facilities. The food quality is top-notch.
Faculty: Faculty members are approachable, helpful, and highly qualified, providing valuable industrial knowledge. While not excessively strict, they guide students effectively. Semester exams are challenging, requiring a passing percentage of only 33% in my college.
Other: My college scholarships adhere to government rules, providing 50 to 60% scholarship.

Overall great but still it lags in somewhere.
Placements: I am uncertain about the exact percentage, but the number of placements has significantly decreased due to the recession. Additionally, for Masters courses, only a handful of companies participate in on-campus placements, resulting in a lower number of placements. Unfortunately, this year there are no companies offering core placements for Physics students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is exceptional; however, certain hostels lack in certain aspects. IIT Delhi boasts state-of-the-art laboratories and an incredible team of staff members who are extremely supportive. In addition to a football ground, hockey ground, and cricket facilities, there are numerous other sports amenities available. The overall structure of the institute is vast and immense.
Faculty: The faculty members are truly exceptional, and the curriculum design is commendable as well. They excel as top-notch researchers in their respective fields, and although the curriculum may be somewhat arduous and lengthy, we can manage it with sincere discipline and diligent effort.
Other: I like Physics so I chose it.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the course curriculum of mathematics and computing department at IIT D.
Placements: The highest package would be around 2 CR, which is PPO. And the lowest, I would say, CTC is 8 lpa. I'm in the mathematics and computing branch at IIT Delhi, so I would say that till the 4th day, almost 50% were placed and till the 10th, 75%. As per the recession, it's quite okay for me. But in normal situations, it could have been way better. Top companies like Graviton, NVidia, Google, Microsoft and many more. The top two roles were software and data analysts.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available in my department are quite good, as per need. We have proper classes in the lecture hall and have Wi-Fi access at all locations on campus. Also, library hours are nice. And we have 24*7 access to the library at times of examination. Mess food quality is okay, not worse and not good. I'm in the Himadri Hostel. The canteen is okay too and medical facilities are also okay. The same goes for sports and games.
Faculty: Average teaching quality was very nice and some professors connected really well with us and conveyed concepts but we have some not-so-good professors too who aren't interested in average students and focused only on tips, which is not quite a good strategy. The course curriculum for my branch could be made more structured and flexible. Semester exams are difficult; it depends on the professor taking the course but overall, if you have prepared for the whole semester, it's easy and if you only do them two days before exams, it's going to be tough.
Other: I wanted to be in only the top IITs, so I took the most valuable branch I could get, which is mathematics and computing, at IIT Delhi. The best thing is that you are going to get placed even if you are putting in very little effort. To be improved would be its curriculum and the way of teaching. Extracurricular activities were excellent at IIT Delhi, but they have declined in recent years.

IIT Delhi stands out as the best among other IITs.
Placements: Around 70 to 85 percent of students are placed every year. The highest package is approximately 65 LPA, while the lowest package is around 6 LPA. Companies like Indian Oil, Indian Gas, etc. visit the campus, but most students are placed in teaching roles. The internship offers are also commendable.
Infrastructure: The facilities at IIT Delhi are quite satisfactory, but the infrastructure leaves much to be desired. The old hostels accommodate three students per room, and the quality of routine food is subpar. Additionally, the Wi-Fi speed is very slow. However, the medical facilities are commendable.
Faculty: The teaching staff at IIT Delhi are graduates from some of the best universities. The curriculum is robust, but the semester exam papers are extremely challenging. This has led to students feeling overwhelmed, with some even contemplating suicide. It is a humble request to reconsider the exam pattern.
Other: I chose the Chemical Engineering department at IIT Delhi because it is one of the branches I am passionate about. Additionally, the placement opportunities at IIT Delhi are excellent, which influenced my decision.

IIT Delhi ( Amazing Journey of IIT Delhi).
Placements: This year, there are approximately 150 students enrolled in the mathematics and computing branch. It has become a highly sought-after course after computer science. As a second-year student, I don't have access to the statistics regarding the highest and lowest packages, but you can always find that information on the IITD website. Additionally, all the companies that are open for computer science students are also open for students in this branch, including IT, software, consulting, and finance companies. On average, about 85% of students in this branch secure placements each year, with salaries ranging from 20 to 25 LPA. The curriculum of this course is designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge in theoretical and practical aspects of computer science, numerical computing, and financial mathematics.
Infrastructure: When it comes to facilities, you will find everything you need here. The classrooms and hostel rooms have 24/7 Wi-Fi, and the labs are of high quality. The classrooms are spacious, well-maintained, and air-conditioned during the summer. The library is always open, and the hostel and mess facilities are decent. There are both 2-seater and 3-seater rooms available. The mess food is average, although it cannot be compared to home-cooked meals. However, there is a special menu for events and festivals. Each hostel also has a night mess. The IIT Delhi hospital is conveniently located within walking distance from the hostel, inside the campus itself, for any medical emergencies. Additionally, you can find a variety of sports and games here, including cricket, badminton, and football.
Faculty: Professors in this course are highly qualified with extensive experience, but their teaching skills do not match their knowledge. However, they are still very helpful and highly qualified overall. Semester exams for this course are notoriously difficult, causing students to pull all-nighters. Most students only start studying seriously a week before the exams. Despite this, the pass percentage is decent, although the exact data is not available. Passing is still achievable for most students.
Other: Most students choose this branch primarily based on their rank, and this holds true for the majority. However, there are a few students who select this branch due to their interest in a specific subject. One advantage of studying mathematics and computing is the limited number of labs compared to other branches. Additionally, the placement opportunities are on par with those of computer science students. In terms of fests and events, there is a wide array of activities taking place regularly. Notably, Rendezvous, the largest festival in North India, is celebrated annually in October and spans over four or five days.

  • Apply for scholarships and grants. There are a number of scholarships and grants available to IIT Delhi students. Students can search for scholarships and grants on the IIT Delhi website and on other scholarship websites.
  • Get a part-time job. Students can get a part-time job on campus or off campus to help cover their living expenses.
  • Cook at home instead of eating out. Eating out can be expensive, especially in Delhi. So, students can save money by cooking at home.
  • Use public transportation instead of taxis. Public transportation is much cheaper in Delhi than taxis and cabs.
  • Take advantage of student discounts. Many businesses in Delhi offer student discounts. Students should ask businesses if they offer student discounts before they make a purchase.

Overall, the cost of studying at IIT Delhi is relatively affordable for Indian students. However, students should budget carefully and take advantage of all the resources available to them.

Q:   Which is the best course offered at IIT Delhi?

A:

BTech is the flagship course of IIT Delhi. The best branches of IIT Delhi BTech programme are Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, and Electrical Engineering. The 5-year integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech in CSE is also highly popular among students. For securing a seat in IIT Delhi CSE specialisations, a candidate must obtain a rank under 100, whereas for securing a seat in Mathematics and Computing specialisation, a rank under 320 or so is needed. For students who want to prepare for CAT along with doing BTech, IIT Delhi will be convenient as there are plenty of good CAT coaching centres near the IIT Delhi campus.

Q:   Is getting BTech admission at IIT Delhi tough?

A:

Yes, getting BTech admission at IIT Delhi is very tough. IIT Delhi is one of the most prestigious engineering universities in India, and it attracts lakhs of applicants each year. The admission process is highly competitive, and only a selected few students are admitted. To be eligible for BTech admission at IIT Delhi, students must have passed the JEE Advanced entrance exam with a high rank. In 2023, the closing rank for BTech admission at IIT Delhi was around 1000 for the general category. This means that only the top 1000 students in the JEE Advanced were admitted to BTech programs at IIT Delhi.

In addition to having a high JEE Advanced rank, students must also meet certain academic requirements to be eligible for BTech admission at IIT Delhi. These requirements include:

  • Passing the Class 12 examination with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate (65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates)
  • Passing the Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry subjects in the Class 12 examination

Even if students meet all of the eligibility requirements, they are not guaranteed admission to BTech programs at IIT Delhi. The admission process is highly competitive, and only the top students are admitted.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main 2024 session 1 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 1 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2024 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main Session 1 score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for JEE Main 2024 Session 2 examination.
