For the General Category, a rank of 7000 should get you admission to B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, as its cutoff rank ranged from 7835 to 11201 during the first and last rounds. You also have the option to opt for other branches, such as B.Tech. in Mathematics and Scientific Computing, with its last round cutoff rank of 14447. IIITM Gwalior's closing rank for BTech CSE 2025 was 11201 for students belonging to the General AI category. B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is the most sought-after course specialisation, followed closely by B.Tech. in Mathematics and Scientific Computing, with the last round closing rank being 14447

Students who are in class 12 and would also be appearing in JEE Mains 2026 exam mostly find it difficult to manage both their class/school and JEE studies. However, all these students have an advantage over others/droppers aspirants as there are many common topics in class 12 and JEE.

To benefit, they must identify all the topics that are common and study those first. Secondly, cover the topics that have more weightage in class 12 and complete them. Before a few days of JEE Mains, study specifically for JEE. This way, they can manage both class 12 and JEE efficiently.

Online coaching can be a good alternative for students who do not wish to join the offline/physical classes for JEE Mains. Online coaching generally has flexible timing of classes for students, usually in the evening, and some also offer night classes. It helps students have more time for self-study. Also, online class lectures are available for viewing offline and can be used repeatedly in case students do not understand any topic covered in the class.

Candidates can appear in JEE Main exam for three consecutive years from the year of passing their class 12. For example if a student pass their class 12 exam in 2026, they can give JEE Main in 2026, 2027 and 2028. As the JEE exam is held twice a year, students can appear total six times in 3 years.

As per NTA, there is no minimum percentage required to appear in JEE Mains exam. Students can appear in JEE Main 2026 without worrying about their class 12 percentage. However, it must be noted that various institutes have creiteria of minimum percentage in class 12 for admission. For example, IITs and NITs require minimum 75% marks in class 12 for admission to BTech courses.
