Yes, it is good till the time you have interest in that field.
Journalism is always a good field, it provides great exposure for candidates to learn.
Prepare well and do it from Mumbai or Delhi to get early and good opportunities.

It's great to see your enthusiasm in studying a totally unrelated field. But don't worry. I do not know your present occupation but take it that you can not join a regular college.
Don't worry. IGNOU, SMUDE are two of the distance learning Universities. You can go to their website and download brochure cum application form. Fill it up, post it online after paying requisite fees & then you can begin the study of journalism.
