In the KEAM exam, there is no strict requirement to score 10 marks each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. However, the total score of 10/600 would be extremely low and unlikely to qualify for admission. For a valid ranking and eligibility for engineering courses, candidates typically need to secure a reasonable score across all subjects. The final rank list is prepared based on marks from the exam, and passing marks depend on category and course selection.

There will be 2 papers of 960 marks in total. Each paper carries 120 questions of 480 marks. There will be 2 papers in KEAM paper 1 will be Physics and Chemistry. Paper 2 will be Maths. Paper 1 will be held from 10 am to 12:30 pm, and paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 5 pm. Thus, each papers will be of 2 hours 30 minutes. KEAM scores for rank list preparation will be based on equal weightage of 50:50 to the score obtained in the KEAM Entrance Examination for Engineering (Paper I & Paper II put together), and the grade/marks obtained in the final year of the qualifying examination for Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.

No marks will be deducted for questions unanswered. In case a candidate has marked two answers for a single question in the OMR sheet, negative marking will be applicable regardless of either of the answers being right or wrong. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. 4 marks will be awarded to candidates for marking every accurate answer.

In order to understand the KEAM question paper pattern, it is important to study the marking scheme in the exam. The KEAM exam marking scheme is similar to the JEE Main marking scheme. Candidates will be awarded 4 marks for every correct answer. 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks will be deducted for not attempting a question.
