The admission for B.Tech lateral programs are based on entrance tests conducted by the concerned state technical boards. In Kolkata (WB) the JELET is the entrance test for B.Tech lateral admission. Similarly in Delhi, The Delhi technological University offers B.Tech lateral programs through common entrance test. So, in both the cases you have to appear in concerned entrance tests for B.Tech lateral admission.

It is a college which offers many courses out of which marine engineering is one of the course and it offers 60 seats to the students. C. V. Raman College of Engineering is known for its infrastructure and facilities provided by them like wi-fi sports complex and labs with better equipment and machines. Faculty of C. V. Raman College of engineering is about average as the faculty does not have much.

ECE is better than mechanical group in terms of placements. But if you are interested in mechanical then take it. Your interest can make you much better later and you can easily get a job if you are in your interested group. So follow your interest.
