Currently, Leipzig University does not charge tuition fees for a student’s first degree. However, in certain cases, students may be required to pay fees for a second degree or for exceeding the standard period of study by too long. Certain fees are also charged for some special courses and the DSH course. All applicants, including international and doctoral students, need to pay the semester fee before the start of each semester. In addition to this semester fee, the university levies tuition fees for long-term students and second undergraduate degrees.

Leipzig University expects a GPA of 3 on a scale of 4 from international students. Along with the GPA, the university wants a student with excellent academic scores; standardized scores; English language proficiency, and work experience. In addition, students must participate in extracurricular activities to add a positive impact on their resume. With an acceptance rate of 10%, the university is quite competitive but students with good performance can still make a place in any program.

The Leipzig University acceptance rate is 10%. This demonstrates the university is extremely stringent when it comes to admission. The university has some admission requirements such as academic excellence; motivation and academic potential; match of the previous degree with Master's course; work experience and professional qualification; and language skills. Students with excellent academic performance and who fulfill each criterion have a high probability of selection. If two or more candidates are equally eligible, admission is decided by drawing lots. An aptitude test may be required for some degree programs.
