Admission into LLM at CNLU is based on CLAT scores. The students are expected to have passed Class 12 or any equivalent examination from a recognised board and secured at least an aggregate of 50%. Candidates have to present the required documents, such as marksheets for Class 10 and 12, the CLAT score card, etc., while submitting applications for admission. This ensures that all candidates have the necessary academic background.

CNLU Patna follows a semester-wise fee structure for its LLM programme. Candidates must pay the tuition fee on a semester-to-semester basis. The cumulative one-time fee for the whole LLM programme amounts to INR 51,000. However, it includes various fee components, such as admission fee, infrastructure development, library fee, student welfare fund, facilities fee, library deposit (refundable), examination fee, and dissertation. International students must complete a bachelor's degree in Law or a degree with substantial law content. The students also meet the minimum English Language requirements for entry to postgraduate degree programs within the School Law. Applicants must have below aggregate in bachelor's degree:

For the LLM course, students have to earn a minimum of 30 credits in each semester. This means, they are required to collect 120 credits in total for the completion of the degree. Out of 120 credits, not less than 60% can be obtained by passing the core papers. The remaining 40% will be secured by passing the elective papers.
