Hello,

Major differences that are concerning for LLM students are what specializations are offered. The Institute of Law and Research may offer specializations such as International Law, Corporate Law, Intellectual Property Law, Human Rights Law, and Environmental Law whereas on the other hand, MDU offers constitutional law, corporate law, and criminal law. So, you can go for your preference.

A thirty-student LL.M. programme is offered by the Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) Department of Law, which can be said that the intake officially is divided per specialisation as follows

criminal law - 30 seats

To get admission to an LL.M. program, universities generally conduct an entrance exam. The Consortium of NLU's conducts the CLAT exam annually to provide admission to UG and PG programs in various law universities and colleges in India. 

To be eligible for the CLAT LLM 2024 exam, aspirants should meet the following criteria: 

Be in the final semester or year of their LLB graduation

Have at least 50% marks in the LLB exam

Have a 5% relaxation of marks if they belong to SC and ST

The minimum score required to apply for the CLAT exam is: 

45% for General, OBC, PWD, NRI, PIO, and OCI categories

40% for SC/ST categories

Panjab University offers LLM as one year course as well as two year course. The syllabus for both is different, although both the courses contain similar subjects. Punjab University is providing total 50 seats for LLM of one year course. Which consists of 42 Indian + 4 NRI + 2 Foreign National students. LLM is offered in five specialisations, namely Environmental and Energy Law, Corporate and Commercial Law, Cyber Security and Digital Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, and Alternate Dispute Resolution. To get admission in one of the LLM specialisations, candidates must have valid scores in entrance exams such as CLAT and ULSAT.
