The format that you can follow for writing the LOR for Ireland is given below:

Introduction:

This consists of a brief description of recommender's credentials (name, title, college/company name, including his relationship with the client) — how long and in what capacity he has known the applicant. Close this paragraph with the client's outstanding qualities that motivate the recommender to recommend the student.

Body Paragraphs:

Discuss four to five qualities like academic prowess, research aptitude, ability in thinking out of the box, leadership, organizational, teamwork skills, taking initiatives, work ethics and/or maturity. Provide a substantial and impressive example or instance when the applicant displayed that quality. This is very important.  

Conclusion: Summary of the applicant's strengths and a ringing and enthusiastic endorsement of his candidacy.

While applying to a university in the USA, you may come across the requirement of 2-3 LORs, specifically from your college professors. Few universities can even ask for two academic LORs and one professional LOR. Therefore, it is important to check the LOR requirements beforehand and approach the selected recommenders well before the time. Connecting with recommenders near the application deadline will leave you with very less time to discuss the points you wish to highlight in the LOR. By starting early, you can even refer to various samples such as lor samples for MS in Civil Engineering or sample LOR for MS in Chemical Engineering, depending on the specialisation you are applying for.

As an MBA programme is quite a sought-after program, every document, including the LOR must be carefully prepared. Below are few things you must not include in the recommendation letter which can jeopardize your application:

1. The recommender must not include weaknesses or negative points, unless asked by the university. Incase the recommender mentions a weakness, he must show it in appositive light, mentioning how are you working on it.
2. The LOR must not have too many traits which seems too good to be true. It is better to include less traits with instances to make it more realistic.
3. Avoid putting excessive technical details in the MBA LOR; rather focus on how you handled the challenges, devised plans, and helped your team reach a successful outcome.
4. All Letters of recommendation must not mention similar traits; try to get every recommender say something different about you. It will help you showcase your versatile personality.
5. You must not include copied or plagiarized content in the letter of recommendation for MBA.
