National Post Graduate College was established in capital of UP by the intervention of the then CM of UP in the year 1974. Since then college has come a long way to establish itself as an institute of learning amongst large number of other colleges in the city. Though initially it began as post graduate institute but today it offers degrees, diplomas and certificate courses in diverse fields. This institution was given status of Autonomous institute along with tag of 'College with Potential for Excellence'. On the other hand Isabella Thoburn College began its innings as a school for girls in one room for seven girl's way back in year 1870. Slowly but steadily it kept on shifting to bigger and bigger buildings before settling in present location. This exclusive college for women was attached to Calcutta University initially but then shifted to Lucknow University when it was formed. This college boasts of great history and big line of alumni's. Even today the college is famous for dedicated faculty.To conclude, I would say that both colleges are having best of the faculty. But those girl students desirous of studying in only girl's college can seek admission here while those for boys and those girls who don't mind studying joining a co-ed institute can seek admission in National PG institute.
