Hi, admission in postgraduate courses are entrance based and merit-based also. Merit-based are only for those students who graduated from Delhi University. The entrance exam is for everyone. For which university are you planning to go fir MA in English. However, you can start your preparation by reading History of English language from any good author. Start reading from the very beginning and make notes of your own. It will surely help you. There is not particular syllabus. However you must know about Shakespeare, Bacon, Shelley, Keats, Jane Austin and as many popular authors as well. I hope this help. God bless you.
