There are some really good colleges in Pune offering M.Tech. COEP will be at the top. Others are Bharati, MIT, DY Patil, Sinhgad, VI and Symbiosis. You can choose any one.

Dropping more than a year is not considered beneficial considering the level of competition that has evolved in every sector of the corporate world. If you could not score good enough in GATE, you could try appearing for other entrance examinations. Different states conduct their own entrance examinations for admission into private colleges in the respective states like OJEE in Odisha, WBUT in West Bengal, PGECET in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka etc. Besides certain private universities like SRM University, KIIT University, VIT University, GITAM University conduct their own entrance examination. No, it's not a good choice to do M.Tech in steel technology. After doing this course, there will be limited opportunities. You should choose either thermal engineering, design stream, manufacturing or precision engineering stream. There is more demand of this. Otherwise, choice is yours.

Dear Sooraj, You should do B.Tech in environmental engineering. After doing this, you can do MS or M.Tech in renewable energy.
