For Journalism Courses:-
I) General Awareness, including an understanding of social dynamics; interest in social history; awareness of public debates on matters of polity and economy; awareness about international developments influencing power equations in the world and their impact on India. Ii) Aptitude & mental iii) language capability & iv) Analytical & comprehension skills. For Advertising and Public Relations.

10+2 is the basic qualification for pursuing most of the PR and journalism courses. There are certificate courses which don't have credibility. I would not advise you to go for those certificate courses.

Eligibility criteria :
10+2 passed (any stream- Science/Commerce/Arts) from a recognised board is the minimum qualification required to pursue the above mentioned mass communication courses. Some institutes do have a minimum marks criteria (at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 subjects) present in eligibility criteria. Admission process :
Most institutes follow direct admission process. Seats are allotted to eligible candidates based on the marks scored by them in board examination (and in some cases state wise entrance tests too). In case of some reputed institutes, they have their own entrance test/qualifying examination, for screening

If you have decided to go for Mass Communication and Journalism field then I would suggest after 12th start your career in B.J. M. C. course and then apply for Masters in mass comm or PG Diploma. Or Else you can do is pursue B.A. And then go for master in mass comm. I completed my PG Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism from NIMCJ after B.Com.
