Candidates with Post Graduation in Management (other than Finance) qualifications need to have compulsory SEBI/ IRDAI mandated Certification as well. Post Graduation qualification implies at least two years of full time education in an education institution. Alternatively equivalence as recognised by appropriate statutory authority viz. UGC/AICTE etc. As Post Graduation qualification (deemed) may also be considered. Distance MBA is good for a candidate who wants to continue working while pursuing MBA. Another option is to pursue Executive MBA, which is of a shorter duration as well. If you fall in this category then you should pursue it. Ideally one should pursue a 2 year full time MBA form a good institute & get the advantage of the campus placement process.

But if your PGDM is not from any gazetted institute and nor approved by AICTE then it's a fake degree. No, you can not pursue PhD right after doing PGDM or PGPM course. For that, you must have MBA degree. After PGDM or PGPM, you have to do MBA for a PhD.
