PGDM is an institute autonomous program which is approved by AICTE.
MBA is a program which is affiliated with a university.
Colleges which offer AICTE approved courses will also offer PGDM, not MBA, for example, XYZ college is affiliated to ABC University they offer MBA course affiliated to that University, the same college is offering AICTE approved course it means they are offering PGDM which is not linked to ABC University.
Typically if any PGDM is to be equivalent to MBA then the course duration should be 2 years, a 1 year PGDM will not be equal to MBA course.
Even IIM's, XLRI's doesn't offer MBA degrees they only give PGP Diploma or P

I would recommend you not to go for distance MBA.
MBA is all about overall development of an individual.
The top business schools that command Rs 12-15 lakh as course fees are offered an annual salary upwards of Rs 9 lakh during campus placement as you want to go for distance learning the package may vary.

The main eligibility is to get a good score in any of the management entrance tests like CAT, MAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc. There is no GD in the admission process. Only PI is there and it is not that tough to clear. You can take MAT in May, but it's better to apply VJIM before the exam so that you can get updates on the admission i.e. if the seats are getting filled up or not.
