With a NEET score of around 530, you may have the opportunity to secure admission to a medical college, but affordability depends on the type of college. Government medical colleges typically have lower tuition fees, and with your score, you might be eligible for admission under the All India Quota (AIQ) or state quota in some state-run colleges, especially in less competitive states. To pursue a paramedical course in a government college, you must first fulfill the criteria of eligibility, usually which you have to fulfill 10+2 with subjects of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. Many government colleges conduct an entrance exam for admission into these particular courses, such as state level, NEET for few courses, and institute-wise tests.

With 329 marks in NEET, you may not get a fully free seat in medicine, such as MBBS, in government colleges as the cutoffs are higher. You may qualify for BAMS (Ayurveda), BHMS (Homeopathy), BUMS (Unani), or BVSc (Veterinary Science) in government or semi-government institutions depending on your category and state quota.

State counseling processes will vary because cutoffs vary from state to state and category reserved. Even the waiver of tuition fees or scholarship to reserved or economically weaker sections can be quite cost-effective. Check out state-wise NEET counseling portals for more details on options and cutoffs available.

To get a seat in a government medical college in Maharashtra in the SC category for NEET 2024, you need to score between 161 and 127 marks. This is based on the 40th percentile cut-off for the SC category.

Here are the cut-off marks for other categories:

UR/EWS: 50th percentile, 720–162 marks

OBC: 40th percentile, 161–127 marks

ST: 40th percentile, 161–127 marks

The minimum marks required for NEET vary each year based on the performance of the participants. The state counseling authorities provide the state-wise NEET cut-off.
