h = a ( 1 + t 2 ) 2 . . . . . . . ( i )

k = at        ……… (ii)

From (i) & (ii) 2 h a = 1 + k 2 a 2

required locus of Q is y2 = 2a (x – a/2)

Equation of directrix x – a/2 = -a/2Þ x = 0

3x² + 3x²y - 3xy² + dy³ = 0
3x² (x + y) – 3y² (x - dy/3) = 0
x - dy/3 = x + y for getting two perpendicular straight lines
d = -3

cos 20° cos 40° cos 80°
= (2 sin 20° cos 20° cos 40° cos 80°) / (2 sin 20°)
= (2 sin 40° cos 40° cos 80°) / (2² sin 20°)
= (2 sin 80° cos 80°) / (2³ sin 20°)
= 1/8

f (x) = x√ (1 – x²)
∴ 1 - x² ≥ 0
⇒ x ∈ [-1, 1]
Put x = cos θ
⇒ f (θ) = cos θ|sin θ|
If sin θ > 0, f (θ) = sin θ cos θ
= (sin 2θ)/2, f (θ) ∈ [-1/2, 1/2]
if sin θ < 0, f () = sin cos
= - (sin 2θ)/2, f (θ) ∈ [-1/2, 1/2]
