Your rank is too high. To get a seat in NIT even in home state under SC category you need at least rank below 10,000. At this rank you can't get any seat in NIT.

Only 5 subjects marks are included for cutoff or you can say eligibility criteria for NIT iiit admission. Taking 3 main subjects + 1 language + 1 extra subject.

You can't get any NIT at this rank even in any branch especially when you are from general category.

Definitely, you can get mechanical branch in top level NIT's. Go for it.
