SASTRA University, Thanjavur was established in 1984 as Shanmugha College of Engineering and granted the deemed-to-be university status in 2001. It is recognised by the UGC, IET and AICTE and NAAC A++ Grade accredits the university. SASTRA University offers various UG, PG, and PhD programmes in Science, Engineering, Medicine, Education, Arts, Law and Management.

Yes, SASTRA Deemed-to-be University offers a two-year MBA programme in the field of Management. Admission to MBA is subject to performance of the candidate in the entrance-exam. As per the details available on the SASTRA webpage for the year 2018-19, this course is available across five specialisations, namely Finance, HRM, Banking, Marketing and Operations. In order to be eligible for this programme, students must have completed their Class 12 and undergraduate degree in the relevant stream.
Sastra University offers a BTech course with 32 different specialisations. Among these 32 specialisations, seven are minors and two are integrated courses that last for five years. The entire BTech programme is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester having a duration of six months.

Admission to SASTRA Chennai (Deemed to be University) is entrance-based. Some of the national-level exams accepted are CUET/JEE Main/XAT, CAT, CMAT, etc. It is also crucial that the aspirants meet the course-specific minimum eligibility criteria. At the undergraduate level, this deemed University offers BTech across 30 specialisations along with Integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to BTech is possible at SASTRA Deemed University via two methods:

The total BTech fee at SASTRA University for the entire course ranges between INR 50,000 and INR 7.7 Lakh. The exact amount varies across the BTech branches/specialisations. Additionally, candidates have to pay a one-time fee of INR 17,000 at the time of admission. This fee includes various components like development fee, charges for ID card, marks verfication, sports, etc. Candidates must note that this fee is sourced from the official website of the institute/sanctioning body. The NIRF Report for 2024 SASTRA University placements has been updated, according to which 2,154 students were successfully placed in various industry-leading names. Out of these, BTech graduates numbered at 1,621 with the median salary package being INR 7.60 LPA. Furthermore, 49 MTech graduates were placed with a median package of INR 5.50 LPA.
For the UG 3-year, 4-year, and 5-year courses, the students placed were 96, 63, and 101, respectively, with their median salaries being INR 3.80 LPA, INR 7.60 LPA, and INR 5.60 LPA, respectively.
