185 is a good score to get an NIT but the admission depends on your cut-off (based on caste). If you belong to OC (general), you may or may not get the top NITs.
But if you belong to SC/ST, you will easily get the top ones and I don't think your rank will be 12000. It will be more as 12 lakhs candidates have written and many can score above 250, your rank will go a little higher.
All the best.

Yes, it is worth to study at BITS, Pilani because it is an international university and it is recognized world-wide. You can get better placements and a lot of knowledge with a great exposure.
NITs are better in terms of fee and education but not better than BITS. NIT is a government college.

For a decent branch in a good NIT, one should score a minimum marks of around 180-200 marks for general category.

For CSE branch, you may join NIT-Delhi. It's one of the best colleges for CSE.

Hi Anurag,
NITs don't consider your 10th marks, and from this year, 12th marks also are not considered for ranking.

I think you will get CSE in almost all NITs except 3-4.
I think you should DTU, NSIT, PEC Chandigarh or try IT in IIIT Allahabad as IIIT, Allahabad will be the best for you. Coding culture, placement, campus everything is fine there. IIITA IT is any day better than so called CSE in any NITs (Except NIT T,W,S). IT and CSE is almost same.

Hello,
Your marks in 12th are not going to help but your marks in JEE Mains only will count. With 200 marks you have a reasonable chance of getting admission.
Best wishes.
