This year, board marks will not be considered for JEE mains.
So, to get in the best NITs (in south India like Calicut, Surathkal, Warangal) you need to have above the following marks.
General Candidates: 200/360
Reservation eligible candidates: 170/360
These are just approximations from previous results. Aim for 300+ and get into the top tank.

Students can get admission in by JEE Mains and JEE Advance exams.
To get admission in IIT or NIT, students first have to quantify JEE Mains according to cut off marks.
Then students are able to appear JEE Advance exam. If student clear these two exams with aggregate marks, he or she will be able to take admission in IIT or NIT.
Students can give these exams when they are currently in 12th science or after the completion of 12th science.
IITs and NITs are both controlled by central government.

You definitely need to score 75 percent or more in your 12th. This only will make you eligible to get admission in NIT. You of course need to study for JEE Mains. Good AIR only will enable you to get a in NIT. Still, there's sometime left. Utilise it in overcoming weak areas that I am sure you must have found out by now.
