Cutoffs are decided every year based on many factors that are dynamic in nature. Total number of students appeared in that subject, total number of seats available, etc. As per the trend, every year more students are appearing. The trend of getting marks is also considered while deciding cutoffs. It is expected that the cutoff would be around 25 this year for general category candidates.

There is no preferred criteria. Both the criteria are valid, you need to fall under any of the two to be eligible for the IITs and the NITs.

Hi,
This year, board marks will not be considered for JEE mains.
So, to get in the best NITs (in south India like Calicut, Surathkal, Warangal) you need to have above the following marks.
General Candidates: 200/360
Reservation eligible candidates: 170/360
These are just approximations from previous results. Aim for 300+ and get into the top tank.

If you are getting admission in NITs, it's good because private institutions are always the last options. And one more thing: No institution can give you 100% guarantee for you placement. Because, it depends on you- how much are you smart, talented, your SGPA and CGPA score during graduation
All the best.

Hello Siddharth,
You definitely need to score 75 percent or more in your 12th. This only will make you eligible to get admission in NIT. You of course need to study for JEE Mains. Good AIR only will enable you to get a in NIT. Still, there's sometime left. Utilise it in overcoming weak areas that I am sure you must have found out by now.
Best wishes.
