No, the eligibility criteria for admission to IITs and NITs is based on the JEE-Main score and in IITs on the basis of JEE-Advance score. There is no percentage criteria for this session i.e. 2023-24. So as long as you fulfill the eligibility criteria for JEE-Main and JEE-Advance, you should be eligible for admission to IITs and NITs¹.

Candidate should have obtained a minimum of 75% marks in class 12th or equivalent exam or they must be in the top 20% tile in their class 12 examination. For SC/ST, the eligibility is to obtain a minimum of 65% marks in class 12 or equal Valent.

The cutoff for admission to NITs varies each year depending on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. However, based on previous years cutoffs, you may need a rank between 10000-15000 for admission to NIT CSE. As for the EWS category, there is no specific rank required for admission to NITs. However, candidates belonging to the EWS category are eligible for a 10% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks. The cutoff for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs varies every year and is based on various factors such as the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, etc. As per last years JEE Main cut off opening and closing ranks, a rank below 5000 is good to get B.E/ B.Tech admission to top NITs including NIT Trichy and NIT Rourkela. However, I could not find any information specific to Punjab state. You can check the details mentioned on this page. No, not a good NIT, you may get lower branch in a new NIT ( depending upon the counselling) but still very less chance
You may get GFTIs CSE, just go through some previous year cut offs
As you are a sc candidate, you can get a good government college even at this rank
or
take a drop year and try again.
