To get admission into a BSc Nursing program through NEET for the OBC category, you're expected to score between 440–490 marks. This is based on the NEET 2025 cut-off for OBC/SC/ST categories in government colleges.

Other NEET cut-off marks for BSc Nursing

The following are the reasons why one should choose a B.Sc Nursing course.

  • India has approximately 1.7 nurses per 1000 people, which is less than the WHO-mandated 3 nurses per 1000 people. By 2024, India will require an additional 4.3 million nurses.
  • A Registered Nurse in India makes an average yearly pay of INR 3 LPA as a fresher, according to Payscale. In 4-5 years, the pay might reach INR 100,000.
  • Candidates can also continue advanced courses in MSc Nursing and specialise in an area of interest.
  • Candidates who do not want to pursue a Master's degree can opt for a public health management postgraduate programme.

Before choosing a Distance BSc Nursing college in India, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Check the Accreditation of the institute, see if it is accredited by the Nursing Council.
  • Check if that college is offering enough clinical placement options.
  • Check the quality of the learning platform, their teaching techniques, and study materials.

Yes, a few institutes like Shree Pashmi Institute of Management and Science and Kashyap Edutech offer Distance BSc Nursing programs in India. The average course duration of Distance BSc Nursing is around 4 years. However, I would suggest you to go for a full-time BSc Nursing course as it will provide you with the required hands-on experience in a clinical setting, which is important to Nursing students.

A distance programme will also lack the level of interaction and support from peers and many recruiters prefer candidates with regular degrees.

Whether to choose a BSc in Nursing or a BDS depends on your personal interests and career goals, however, BSc Nursing is a better choice if you want to explore a wider range of career options, global opportunities, and a focus on holistic patient care. BDS, on the other hand, would be better if you want to specialize in dentistry or eventually open your own practice.

GNM is a Diploma programme in General Nursing and Midwifery focused on direct patient care and Nursing and Midwifery services, whereas, the BMLT stands for Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology intended to train students to perform lab tests and analyses. While BMLT professionals work primarily in labs analyzing samples to assist in diagnosis, GNM Nurses work directly with patients.

To get admission to a government college of GNM Nursing program, you can apply through the state-level entrance exam or directly to your desired college. However, you'll need to fulfil the eligibility criteria set by the college.

No, GNM is a 3-year-long Diploma programme and there's no way you can complete it in 6 months or less. Additionally, this course also includes a 6-month mandatory internship as the part of the program.
