The Assam Institute of Nursing follows the guidelines set by the Indian Nursing Council. If the council mandates an increase in the course duration while you are enrolled, changes will be implemented. However, any extra time added is not going to be institution-funded and students would need to bear the additional costs of the extended training period.

The GNM course curriculum at Assam Institute of Nursing is very hands-on, with a heavy focus on clinical experience. For example, in the first year, while you spend about 625 hours in the classroom for theory, you will spend over 1,200 hours in practical training in labs and hospital wards. The course curriculum is designed to ensure that by the time you start your 6-month internship in the final year, you have enough "on-the-job" practice to work.
