Nursing is focused on offering comprehensive, ongoing patient care in a medical healthcare setting. Meanwhile, EMS (Emergency Medical Services) is focused on immediate life-saving interference in emergencies in a prehospital setting. Nurses generally have a larger scope of practice and more in-depth patient management compared to Emergency Medical Service providers such as paramedics.
EMS is a good option for those who think they are a good fit for emergencies on-site and performing life-saving situations, and Nursing is an apt choice for those who want a wider scope of practice and longer interactions.

To get a job in the Emergency Medical Services, firstly, you must fulfil the educational eligibility criteria, which can vary depending on the course level and college you choose. For example, for a UG Diploma in Emergency Medical Services Nursing, you need to pass Class 12 with PCB subjects from a recognised board.
After this, you need to get relevant experience from a medical facility in the emergency department. Depending on the employer, you may also need to obtain a certification in a specialised area.

No, the Emergency Medical Services Nursing courses are not the same as an Emergency Medical Technician program. Though both involve emergency care, EMS Nursing is focused on advanced nursing skills within a hospital setting, while the EMT provides basic medical care in pre-hospital settings such as ambulances.
This means that the Emergency Medical Technician programme has a less extensive scope of practice compared to an Emergency Medical Services Nursing course.
