I've seen this kind of Imperial vs Oxford question come up a lot, and I think the confusion is understandable. On paper, both look exceptional, so it's tempting to search for a single “better” answer. In reality, that framing usually causes more stress than clarity.
What helped me when comparing top-tier options (in my case, different programs rather than universities) was stepping away from reputation alone and focusing on lived outcomes. Things like teaching style, supervisor access, assessment culture, workload rhythm, and even how supported students feel day to day don't show up clearly in rankings. Two institutions can be equal

Both are very good in different areas. Imperial College is known for its strong STEM courses. Oxford is considered the better option for its humanities and social Science programs. Imperial maintains strong industry connections in the tech and Science industry. Oxford carries a historical reputation and has educated more than 30 British Prime Ministers.
