PharmD, or Doctor of Pharmacy, is a professional doctoral degree, while D.Pharm, or Diploma in Pharmacy, is a Diploma course. PharmD is a more comprehensive program, typically lasting six years, and prepares graduates for a wider range of roles, including clinical pharmacy and research. D.Pharm is a shorter, two-year programme focused on the practical aspects of pharmacy, such as dispensing medication.

Yes, after earning a D Pharma, you must register with the appropriate State Pharmacy Council.

In India, only licensed chemists are permitted to work in hospital or retail chemist's and dispense medication. In order to register, you must turn in your course certificate, finish a quick verification, and get a special chemist licence number. You cannot practice medicine or start a medical store without registration.
