The syllabus for Power Engineering courses is not the same across all colleges. The coursework pattern followed differs on the basis of the course level at which you're studying the course and the college. Each institution decides on a certain syllabus pattern to be followed at the beginning of the academic year, which includes core subjects, elective choices, hands-on training via lab work, and project work in the final year.

There are more than 800 Power Engineering colleges in India, from which 646 are private, 140 are government, and 1 is public-private. Some of the well-known academic institutions for Power Engineering courses are the IITs, NITs, DTU, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Jadavpur University, BITS Pilani, etc.
You must carefully go through their course curriculum, faculty, course fee, and research lab work to come to a final decision.

It differs from one college to another. Every university follows their own set of guidelines for admitting students to Power Engineering courses at various levels. The admission process time may normally take a few weeks to a few months. There are a lot of steps involved in the admission process before you are given the final seat and your admission is confirmed. So, you must stay patient during the admission process and keep an eye on all the admission-related notifications of the colleges you are targeting.

You can go through the list of some important items that you must carry to the exam center without failure when appearing for any of the Power Engineering exams:

  • Admit Card (At least 2 copies, you won't get entry without the same)
  • A pen and plain white sheets (Though, you may get rough sheets during the exam but it is better if you carry a few)
  • A valid ID proof like Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, etc.
  • City Intimation Slip (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photographs (may be required)
