For getting admission to M.Tech courses in Power Engineering at the IITs, you should have at least 55 to 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a relevant field. If you belong to the reserved category, the marks eligibility requirement is usually relaxed by 5%. Also, you have to give the GATE exam. Power Engineering is not just flicking a switch and making sure the lights stay on. You're making those systems as a Power Engineering technologist. You're building the bridges between old and new energy. Creating places where energy is not just consumed, but it is also produced in equal parts, where energy from your home can go back into the grid.
You'll be working with energy in a variety of ways, from developing biodiesels from fish oil, lessening the environmental impact and our reliance on traditional sources of fuel. You'll be harnessing direct energy methods while working with steam and pressure systems. Therefore, the course pro

The coursework duration of Power Engineering differs depending on the course level. For UG Power Engineering courses like B.E/BTech, the duration in India is 4 years. For the PG courses, the duration is 2 years. If you want to enter the work field at the earliest, you can also go for a diploma in Power Engineering right after completing your Class 10, which spans 3 years.
Furthermore, a PhD degree in Power Engineering can be 3 years to 6 years long, depending on your research topic and the college where you're pursuing the program. Most of the colleges offer courses in this field at the PG level, after you complete a bachelor's degree i

Actually, both these courses are excellent. Both have good faculty, good infrastructure and also high market demand. Only point to make difference is placements. Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur have little much better placements than Electrical Engineering (Power and Automation) at IIT Delhi. Finally, I would suggest you Electrical Engineering at IIT Kanpur if you consider placements.

Hi,
Typically for UG courses, you need to have completed your Class 12 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects with at least 50 to 60% marks in the board exams. Most of the universities also have additional requirements like entrance exam scores or PI round. For PG courses, you need to have a bachelor's degree with a minimu of 55% marks and give the entrance exam and get a good score to be able to grab a seat for yourself at a popular Power Engineering college in India.
Hope it goes well with your query !
